About Southern State Parkway
The Southern State Parkway runs across Long Island, New York. It was built in stages from the late 1920s as one of Robert Moses' parkways, with low stone overpasses, no trucks and long, sweeping curves. Its fast bends earned it the nickname "Blood Alley".
This build covers about 20 km of the parkway heading west, from the Farmingdale and Bethpage area to Valley Stream near the Queens line.
